STORYTELLER

Kate Morton (Mezzo-Soprano) is a storyteller and performer from the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she received her Master of Music in Vocal Arts while under the tutelage of Mr. Kevin Short. In summer of 2026, Morton will be a Resident Artist with The Glimmerglass Festival, performing the role of Ado Annie in Oklahoma! In upcoming performances, Morton will perform in the world premiere of The Song Blanket at Symphony Space, as well as perform excerpts of Opera Montana's new commission of A River Runs Through It at National Sawdust. In October 2024, with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Canterbury Voices, Morton originated the role of Loksi’ in the world premiere of Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Loksi' Shaali': A Chickasaw Opera, the first opera performed entirely in a Native American language. She will reprise the role in Wilmington, Delaware this May in a concert version with Wilmington Concert Opera. She recently joined Opera Saratoga as a 2025 festival artist in their productions of She Loves Me (Ilona Ritter) and La vie Parisienne (Madame de Folle-Verdure.)
